More photos!

Lots going on!

We've had so much going on, as you'll see from the photos! I am so happy that I got to attend my friend Maria's wedding, see Nolan Rand Stone be born and welcome Maya Isabelle all in one summer. We have also been spending lots of time potting training and going on some adventures. Sofia is on her third day of using the potty almost exclusively. The trick for her really seemed to be that we bought a cute little potty chair, bribed her with m&m's and sang and danced like fools when she used it. For the past few weeks, before the potty chair purchase, we were going through almost 15 diapers a day. Sofia was starting to learn that she didn't like being wet at all. So, even if she just peed a little, she wanted to be changed right away...then she would pee again five minutes later. This also contributed to about four or five dirty diapers that would wake her up at night and she would say...:"Mama...I pooped (which means pee, except when she really does poop). Mama change me". So we would have to change her before she would go back to sleep. Finally we caught on that we should try something new. So she has been pooping and peeing on the potty all day, and doesn't even get changed until morning now! I was so excited about her first poop on the potty that I thought about posting the picture...(yes I have a picture)...but I'm not going to. There has been enough poop in this blog! So enjoy the pics!

Okay me explain...I started to seriously potty train Sofia today (after reading MckMama's post and tips on the issue- www.mycharmingkids.net). Her advice is to let the kids play without a diaper and to give them lots to drink. When they start to show signs that they have to go...bring them to the potty. So that was my mission.

However, I have also been wanting to update myblog with pics and videos more frequently, so I thought that today would be a good day to video Sofia doing her instrument puzzle. So I broke out the camera and she did the puzzle. Halfway through it she gets excited about the piano piece because we recently set up "a piano"(a huge keyboard that I've had at school for 5 years) in the living room. So when she gets back from the piano we finish that puzzle. She gets excited about the xylophone because she has one and goes get it out of her instrument box. Great! End of video. So after I stop recording, I watched the video while Sofia played with her instruments. It came out great, I was excited!!!

Then, when I looked up, I saw something rolling around near her feet. I realizedthat she had POOPED on the floor!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! How could I not notice this???// I ran her up to the bathroom, cleaned her up and then cleaned up the mess on the floor!! All was fine- and we continued to play. I called my husband and mom and told them both what happened, and they laughed. I didn't think much else of it. And then it dawned on me, that maybe the poop happened during the video!!!!!! Oh my gosh!! I looked back at the recording and sure enough, there it is sitting on the ground, right before she goes for her xylophone. How could I have missed this in real life, and then when I played the video back???????? WOW!!!

Anyway, the good news is that she later peed on the potty and was very proud of herself. I promise that I will never use this video to embarass my child when she is older, but for now, I think it is fair game!!

Monday morning Sofia had a little accident and banged her mouth as she fell out of her highchair. Felipe brought her up to me and I rocked her and soothed her. Then we realized that she was bleeding pretty badly from the mouth. She continued to bleed for about half an hour. After calling the pediatrician (and getting no call back, twice!), we decided to take her to the E.R. because we thought she might need a stitch or two. Come to find out, the ends of the cut were tapered nicely and it should heal just fine. She didn't quite want to eat anything for a day or two, but she's been storing up for days like these!! She's fine now, and as you can see, she enjoyed reading with me in the E.R. (no i'm not picking my nose, I was just scratching it) and then loved the snow with her papa! Notice how thick and unruly her hair is. It looks like Suri Cruise meets cousin it. I'm thinking about a hair cut soon, but I just want it to get a little longer first.
